ArtPlay Kids Acting
Actor and Educator Darrell Revel will guide participants through the basics of theatre. Students will learn theatre games, improvisation, monologues, scene work, stage make-up application and voice & diction. Intro to Musical Theatre- Pt. 2
Students will learn the basics of musical theatre including basic acting technique, song interpretation, learning music, rhythms, basic dance and staging directions. Monologues, scene work, music from the musical theatre repertoire, theatre games and exercises will be utilized as well. As students learn about various elements, experiment with different musical theatre genres, they will be able to use their newfound techniques to further their love for theatre and the music that surrounds them on stage.

Diane earned an M.M. from Florida State University and did post graduate work at Indiana University. Now based in Birmingham, AL, she has received grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the Lowder Foundation and is a member of the National Association of Teachers Singing.

Hip Hop Recording Workshop
This class offers a glimpse into the world of beat making and provides students with the skills to make beats for a variety of genres such as hip hop, electronic dance music (EDM), and pop. The workshop introduces students to four steps of beat production: digging, sampling, sequencing/mixing, and song arrangement. Students will work hands-on exclusively with music recording software, using midi controllers to create a polished song from start to finish. Latin Social Dance
Led by Cuban dance master Sergio Rodriguez, this vibrant class will teach various Latin social dance forms, including salsa, merengue, bachata, and cha cha cha. Students will learn how to understand and feel the movements according to the respective music and rhythm styles – both individually and with a partner. Sergio will give cultural context to each of the dance forms. Everyone is welcome – you do not need a partner or previous dance knowledge. This is a perfect introduction to the social dance scene in Birmingham.

Roots Music 101: Blues/Folk Harmonica
Learn about the roots of American Music from Muddy Waters and Jimmie Rodgers to Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Cash. Learn the basics of Blues/Folk Harmonica in the process. All taught in a fun, fast moving environment. No music reading skills are required for this class. Taught by seasoned performing duo 2BLU (Bruce Andrews and George Dudley) A fun class for beginners up to intermediates. Half of each class will be a performance and history presentation/discussion of blues and folk music/ half will be basic instruction on the diatonic harmonica. The class may also attempt to write some blues songs for fun. The student will need to purchase a 10-hole diatonic harmonica in the key of "A" prior to the first class.
