Street Jazz
Street jazz is a high energy fusion of jazz dance and elements of hip-hop dance. This class will focus on jazz technique partnered with the intricate styling that hip-hop dance has to offer. The class will conclude with a short combination that includes improvisation.

ArtPlay Kids Acting
Actor and Educator Darrell Revel will guide participants through the basics of theatre. Students will learn theatre games, improvisation, monologues, scene work, stage make-up application and voice & diction. Best of all, the children will get a chance to showcase their newly developed skills when the workshop culminates with a Showcase Production open to all parents and friends.

A Stitch in Time
You don’t need a sewing machine to create functional or decorative objects from fabric. Hand sewing is a versatile art form that allows for a variety of textile manipulations almost impossible to replicate on a machine. Each week, participants will learn a new method of construction resulting in a personal sample encyclopedia for future reference. All That Glitters is Gold Leaf
Artist Patty B. Driscoll will open her studio to teach an Introduction to Gold Leaf Water Gilding. In this workshop, we will explore the traditional gilding techniques of the early Renaissance, including sgraffito, granito, and egg tempera painting. Each student will leave with a gilded sample frame. Workshop will be held at Patty B's studio in downtown Birmingham.

Live and Let’s Dye (A Lesson in Natural Dyes)
In this workshop, we will dye yarn and fabrics with three natural dyes: osage, cochineal, and indigo. Participants will see how each of the dyes is produced, and then will get a chance to use each of the colors. Dye colors can be combined with over-dyeing to produce a rich range of tones. We will also introduce tie-dye and shibori techniques for producing patterns and variations on fabrics and garments. All students will need to bring a clean white t-shirt for dyeing, all other supplies will be provided.
